China,
a destination of which so little is known. This tour is one that journeys
through the splendours of this great civilization with all the major attractions
covered. From the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tian'anmen Sqaure - all in
Beijing, to the pilgrimage to the place where the famous silk road began, Xian.
The world famous Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses, the beautiful city of Hangzhou,
and the vibrant city of Shanghai, are all a part of the experience. An optional
extension to Japan is also available.
Day 01: Depart for
Tokyo
We begin our adventure by departing from Home Town for Tokyo.
Day 02: Arrive
Tokyo
For comfort from the long haul flight, we take a break at Narita, near Tokyo.
Our overnight stop includes airport-hotel-airport transfers and hotel near
Narita airport provided by Japan Airlines.

Day
03: Tokyo / Beijing (Flight)
Morning, we are transferred to the airport for our flight to Beijing, the
capital of China. Afternoon we visit the Temple of Heaven - one of Beijing's
most significant landmarks and a prime example of Ming Dynasty architecture -
where emperors presided over prayers for good weather and bountiful harvest.
Back to the hotel after dinner.

Day 04: Beijing
Take a morning stroll around Tian'anmen Square, Beijing's grand centerpiece -
flanked by a number of China's most impressive monuments and museums, it's the
largest pubic square in the world. Then pass through Tian'anmen Gate to enter
the vast enclosed world of the Forbidden City - the dwelling place of Chinese
emperors since 1420. After lunch, visit the Summer Palace, the summer residence
of the Empress Dowager and enjoy a breathtaking spectacle of lake and landscape,
pagodas & pavilions. In the evening, we enjoy the skill and artistry of a
Beijing Opera. (B, L, D)
Day 05:
Beijing
Today we visit one of the wonders of the world - the Great Wall, which winds
dragon-like across northern China-the only earthly evidence of man visible from
the moon. After lunch, we visit the Ming Tombs - the burial site of 13 Ming
Dynasty Emperors guarded by sculpted stone animals, (time permitting we also
visit a jade factory). At night, we are treated to a sumptuous Peking Duck
dinner, the indigenous way. (B, L, D)
Day 06:
Beijing / Xi'an (Flight)
Our next stop is by a short flight to the place where silk originate. Xian was
once the capital of 11 dynasties. After lunch, we visit the Ming Dynasty City
Wall and Shanxi Provincial Museum. At night, a Xi'an special, Dumpling Banquet
specially prepared for us.

07: Xi'an
Our day tour of Xi'an start with one of the most exciting archaeological finds
in recent years-the unearthing of more than 6,000 Terra-cotta Warriors and
Horses. Next stop is at the Huaqing Hot Spring, followed by the world famous
Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses reproduction factory. After dinner we are
treated to an exciting Tang Dynasty Show. (B, L, D)
Day 08:
Xi'an / Guilin (Flight)
Morning flight to Guilin, this city is famous for its vertical limestone
mountains rising above flat tree-lines streets, rice and water chestnut fields
and the meandering Li and Taohua Rivers. Afternoon we visit the Elephant Trunk
Hill, Fubo Hill and Reed Flute Cave. This evening we are treated to a Guilin
Folk Dance and Music Show.

09: Guilin
After breakfast, we take a cruise of the Li River to enjoy its beautiful
scenery. Disembark at Yangshuo and check out some of the many colorful markets
before returning by coach to our hotel. (B, L, D)
Day 10:
Guilin / Hangzhou (Flight)
Day free till our flight to the most beautiful city in China, Hangzhou - the
city where heaven and earth meet. Upon arrival, we visit Lingyin Monastery along
with the adjacent caves and magnificent carvings of "The Peak that Flew from
Afar" - all s teepted in Bhuddist lore. A Hangzhou local cuisine dinner is
specially prepared for us tonight.

Day 11:
Hangzhou
Morning we enjoy a scenic cruise on Hangzhou's classically beautiful West Lake.
Next we visit Qiantang River, Tiger's Spring and a Longqing tea plantation.

12: Hangzhou / Suzhou (Drive)
After breakfast, transfer to Suzhou by coach. Suzhou is famous for its
traditional gardens and picturesque canals. Our afternoon tour includes the
Humble Administrator's Garden, Lion Grove, Tiger Hill, Hanshan Temple and a silk
factory.

Day 13: Suzhou / Zhouzhuang / Shanghai (Drive)
A scenic coach ride gets us to the ancient town of Zhouzhuang, which has a
history of over 900 years - designated a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO.
We explore the museum in Zhouzhuang, before driving to the vibrant and the
exotic city of Shanghai. After dinner we take a stroll along Shanghai's famous
promenade, "The Bund".

Day 14: Shanghai
The Shanghai city tour takes us to the new and modern Pudong Development Zone,
theJade Buddha Temple & Yu Yuan Garden. Free time in the afternoon to shop on
Nanjing Road. After dinner, we enjoy the famous Shanghai Acrobatic Show. (B,

Day 15:
Shanghai / Tokyo (Flight)
After breakfast, we bid farewell to China and depart for Tokyo with an immediate
connection for Canada.
